At the weekend Laura and I took a trip to Kew Gardens as we were visiting some friends in London. Laura has a strange obsession with the place having first discovered it about 5 years ago. It has been about 20 years or more since I have been and Laura had been on at me that we should go ! We were blessed with pretty good weather for April and the scudding clouds made for fabulous photographic opportunities :-)

The first glasshouse we went into was the Princess of Wales Conservatory which was opened in 1987 by Diana, Princess of Wales in commemoration of her predecessor Augusta's associations with Kew. This fab new glasshouse contains 10 climate zones.

I have no idea what this plant is but it was a good chance to play with my extension tubes & 50mm lens. I have decided to go the radical route of square cropping for the horticultural photographs - I think they work quite well ! ! !

This is dedictated to my Flickr chum, Chris Da SaXmAn who hates flower macros :-)
