3/22/12: Brian Fuchs from the National Drought Mitigation Center provided an update on the drought and the outlook for the future. Comments were also given by state climatologist offices in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Louisiana. Apologies that the audio and video are out of sync. This appears to be a post-processing problem that occurs when we upload the webinars to YouTube. PDF's of the webinar slides are posted on the NIDIS Drought Portal, www.drought.gov, in the "Southern Plains" section.
4/26/12: This briefing was part of the Spring 2012 Southern Great Plains Drought Outlook and Assessment Forum that was hosted by NOAA, NIDIS, Texas Tech University, and SCIPP. It took place in Lubbock, TX. The briefing was part of a press conference that was moderated by David Brown, NOAA Southern Region Climate Services Director. Victor Murphy, Climate Service Program Manager for the National Weather Service Southern Region Headquarters, Dave DuBois, New Mexico State Climatologist and Klaus Wolter, Climate Research Scientist at the University of Colorado provided an update on the drought that continued to grip west Texas and eastern New Mexico. The set-up was different than normal so we apologize that the audio cuts out a bit. Additional information can be found on www.drought.gov in the "Southern Plains" section.
