Parts of an Atom Song

Here is a song I created to help my 6th grade students study. I hope you enjoy. Let's shoot from the start Of the atom And aim for the heart Of the nucleus Made up of neutrons and also protons Positively charged Protons all the same Identical Mass 1 amu And they're so small Neutrons have no charge Comparatively big But only a smidge In the nucleus Atoms are of subatomic particles And they are electrically neutral 'Cause the electron number Equals the proton number And the protons in the nucleus - atomic number The nucleus is made up of just two Protons and neutrons together close to But the electrons scattered Orbiting in the atom 2, 8, 18, 32, are the shell numbers Electrons outside The nucleus, negatively charged In electron clouds Almost zero mass Smaller than the rest Makes most of volume Isotopes occur Naturally Protons are the same Neutrons different Properties the same Unstable atoms Nucleus changing It's radioactive Atoms are of subatomic particles And they are electrically neutral 'Cause the electron number Equals the proton number And the protons in the nucleus - atomic number The nucleus is made up of just two Protons and neutrons together close to But the electrons scattered Orbiting in the atom 2, 8, 18, 32, are the shell numbers You want to know, how forces move They're everywhere including within atoms Gravity's the weakest Particles too smallish For gravity to pull this Electromagnetic force Opposites attract Protons, electrons, hold together, so tight But ...
