A day in the life of a radiological technologist.

What is ultrasound?
Ultrasound is the use of sound waves to build images of the body. The operator will place a transducer against the skin. The transducer sends sound into the body and receives echoes. A computer generates images from that information. A gel is placed between the transducer and the skin to provide a better image. Wake Forest Baptist Health radiologist Wendell S. Myers, MD, explains that an ultrasound study may take 10 to 15 minutes, or up to 45 minutes, depending on what they are looking at and what the issues are.
