Spartanburg County Jail Portrait Series

This is it.
Number 9 in the series. This will be the last portrait I post. I feel it will not get better than this one portrait. So finish on a high note, I think it is. Thanks for all your thoughtful comments.
I started this series because I was totally transfixed by the characters that I saw in the booking shots from this US jail. I wanted to create portraits of some of the persons to give them back some of the dignity they were stripped off.
My technique was one of using a tiny small smudge tool (5 pixels across) to paint over the entire booking shot pixel by pixel, following lines of the faces, like a painter on a canvas. This took about 2-3 hours for each portrait. Once I completed this first phase, I started on darkening and brightening selectively, changing contrasts, changing colors selectively, and finally finishing off the overall appearance using filters and masks, creating "the look".
This last portrait is my personal favourite in this series.
