Russel market and Shivajinagar is a large Market area full of so many things to sell. Its one place one can avail just about anything. Indian markets have always been a fancy with people abroad and a matter of pride for the Indians. Its sad how the supermarkets have taken over, and ironically how they are not so "super". There's no haggling anymore, no best prices, no choice for the consumer, no happiness of purchasing anymore, for that matter not as colorful either. Long walks down many streets and long mysterious searches for any particular item you want to buy has been taken over by these huge fabulous Malls... that to me are so cold, strange and colorless. These malls and supermarkets are supposed to stock up everything in one building and yet I dont find them as satisfying as these vibrant Markets.
Think of all these individuals who have been making their income via these markets selling their small goods for years and generations. These people shall soon be unemployed, and nothing saddens me more to know that We shall be responsible for that.
